Greater government support for respectful and safe clubs
Sporting clubs across Victoria will be supported to ensure respectful and safe environments across the state.

The Allan Labor Government recently launched their new guide: Safe and Inclusive Sport: preventing gender-based violence.
The guide assists clubs who participate with strategies to ensure gender equity is met, as well as preventative measures to ensure gender-based violence does not happen within community sport.
Examples of projects that drive change has also been included to provide a guide for sporting clubs, including the ‘Champions of the West’ campaign, which is a joint venture between GenWest, the Western Bulldogs, Women’s Health Grampians and the Western Football Netball League.
The guide also helps provide support for the family violence prevention strategy set up by the Allan Labor Government.
Minister for Prevention of Family Violence, Vicki Ward, says it is imperative for sporting clubs to ensure there is a safe environment for all.
“Preventing gendered violence requires a whole of community effort,” she said.
“Through Government partnering with our community organisations, sporting clubs, leagues and associations, we see strong results in creating respectful and safe cultures in our communities.
“Strong cultures where sexism, disrespect and violence are not tolerated.”
Minister for Community Sport, Ros Spence, says the guide will help sporting clubs improve their standing in the community.
“Sport helps shape communities and individuals and this new guide will make a positive difference on and off the field in our communities today and for generations to come,” she said.
