Great times in triathlon
The Maryborough and District Triathlon Club conducted the fourth event on its 2024/25 club championship season, its second long course triathlon from the Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre, on Sunday, November 10.

Event distances were long course (400 m swim, 20 km ride, and 4 km run), and short course (200 m swim, 8 km ride, and 2 km run).
The long course provided a very entertaining and enthralling com-petition between two local young-gun triathletes in Josh Britten and Cooper Mark, and experienced triathlete Jane Anderson from Toolleen.
Josh was first to exit the pool after the 400 m swim, with Cooper and Jane not far behind in hot pursuit. Josh was able to maintain the lead throughout the 20 km cycle leg, as Jane passed Cooper and gained valuable ground as she produced her customary blistering cycle leg.
Josh continued to power through the 4 km run to finish in the fastest time of the day (64:38) wiping nearly three minutes off his October time, with Cooper also enjoying a strong run to finish in second place overall (79:19), with Jane crossing the finish line in 81:45 to win the 50+ female long course.
Kate Cain made a welcome return to club participation as well in the longest of the short course events on the club calendar (200 m swim, 8 km ride, and 2 km run). Kate excelled in all triathlon disciplines, completing the course in 39:58 to win the open female short course category.
The fifth event on the 2024/25 club calendar will be a long course triathlon from the Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre on Sunday, December 8. Course distances will be identical to the November event — long course (400 m swim, 20 km ride, and 4 km run), and short course (200 m swim, 8 km ride, and 2 km swim).
