Golfers will have to hang up the clubs this week as Victoria’s consistent rain has stopped the Maryborough Golf Club from hosting its annual tournament.

The Maryborough Golf Club has announced the 107th annual tournament has been cancelled due to Victoria’s continued inclement weather patterns.

The club said that the course was not in acceptable condition, and coupled with more forecast rain, they felt they had no choice.

“Unfortunately the weather has completely overtaken us. There is just no way that we could have the course in the condition it should be for a tournament especially given the forecast for this and next week,” the club said in a statement.

The Maryborough Golf Club remained closed until yesterday, but were set to attempt to have a stableford round on Saturday for men and women, as well as Tuesday.
