Girls cricket is on track for season 2023/24, with the first Come and Try session held as part of the This Girl Can program from Sports Focus.

The start of the proceedings for the 2024 edition of Country Week follows a successful outing in 2023, which saw the Maryborough Just For Girls cricket team record their first victory in the competition thanks to a win over Grampians.

A strong contingent of 11 girls made their way to Carisbrook Recreation Reserve for the first session on Sunday morning, under the tutelage of Gary Wagstaff, with the basics of the game being taught.

The Country Week competition is set to be held in February, with the best junior cricketers in country Victoria set to take part again.
