Giants secure their first match of 2025
There was a big, big sound heard from Navarre on Saturday, with the Maryborough Giants taking a 30-point lead over the Grasshoppers in their first win of the season.

The Giants powered home against Navarre on Saturday, outscoring the home side each quarter to secure a comprehensive win.
A five-goal lead in the first quarter quickly grew out to a 13-goal lead, then a 24-goal lead and
finally a 30-point win for the
Giants, eager to prove themselves in their second season since amalgamation.
It seemed that nothing would get in the way of Lacey Broad in goals, scoring a whopping 51-goals for Maryborough at 78 percent accuracy, with the visitors hedging their bets on her safe hands in the attacking third.
At the opposite end however, the Giants’ Julie Anderson and Ruby Saunder proved an almost insurmountable obstacle for Navarre’s shooters, with Brianna Hyslop the highest scoring with 19 goals from 29 attempts.
Saturday’s result speaks to a consistent four quarters for the Giants as they prove themselves to be serious competitors this season and a disappointing result for the Hoppers off the back of their nail-biting three-goal victory over Newstead in round one.
