An initiative by the Pyrenees Shire Council is encouraging visitors and residents alike in the region to join in on an Easter Hunt Competition throughout the month.

Tourists and locals will need to download the Visit Pyrenees app and, throughout April, use it to scan QR codes found at businesses across the region for a chance to win a Pyrenees getaway. The more QR codes users scan, the more opportunities there are to win.

Pyrenees Shire Council mayor and Avoca Ward councillor Ron Eason said the initiative shows off the beauty of the area to both visitors and residents.

“There’s so much to do in the Pyrenees, from indulging in award winning wineries, exploring nature parks and forests, visiting unique galleries and everything in between,” he said.

“This is a great opportunity to not only visit our wonderful area, but to also go into the running to win an incredible prize.”

Valued at over $1000, the prize includes two nights’ accommodation at Avoca Cottages for four people, a Summerfield Winery dining package for four people, six bottles of local Pyrenees wines, a family ticket to the Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally and an Easter egg hamper.

“The official Visit Pyrenees app from council is here to help visitors uncover the Pyrenees like a local and feel at home while visiting,” Cr Eason said.

“We look forward to welcoming you over Easter and throughout April.”

The competition runs from now until April 30.

The winner will be selected at random on Monday, May 1.
