Funds raised for brigade
The Lexton Community Club hosted a special fundraising luncheon two weeks ago in a show of support for the local fire brigade.

Around 90 residents gathered at the Lexton Public Hall on October 6 for the luncheon, with guests enjoying major raffles, lucky ticket draws, cake trading stalls and much more.
The event raised around $3000 for the Lexton Fire Brigade to replace the ageing second fire truck and other vital equipment, a figure club president Helen Jolley was pleasantly surprised by.
“It was very well supported the event — last year we had our fundraiser for the Pyrenees Food Pantry in Avoca and we doubled what we raised this year,” she said.
“The fire brigade has had a couple of really major events in our area in the last four years, so I think it’s important we show them our appreciation for what they do for the local community.”
The purpose of the community club is to raise money and awareness for important local initiatives.
The event was the second major fundraiser the club has organised since COVID and Ms Jolley said community spirit hasn’t waned during that time.
“The community club thanks the local and wider community for getting behind our fundraiser it’s much appreciated and it’s for an excellent cause,” she said.
“It was great to see the community come together from all over, we had people from Avoca, Amphitheatre and Beaufort so it was a real community activity.
“It’s really important socially as well to have the community come together, I think there hasn’t been a lot of that since COVID.”
