Fundraiser on next week

Everyone is invited to Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser next week.

Next Wednesday, from 11 am, the local fundraiser will return to the centre for its fourth year.

All money raised will go towards the Cancer Council’s annual campaign to help fund life-saving support for those impacted by cancer.

This year the organisation has raised almost $14 million through more than 20,000 fundraisers.

Among those taking part is Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre’s Sally Neill.

She said the local fundraiser continues to grow having raised $500 last year.

Ms Neill invited everyone in the community to come along to enjoy a warm drink, some light finger food, and each other’s company for a good cause.

“[We’re] just getting community together to be aware of it all,” she said.

“Everyone has been struck by cancer at some stage of their life.”

The morning tea costs $10 to attend with a raffle, donated by Maryborough IGA, also available.

“Donate and help the cause,” Ms Neill said.
