Beaufort’s second game of the weekend is set to take them to Hedges Oval on Sunday afternoon for another one-dayer against Colts Phelans, who will be looking to respond.
Colts had the tricky task of trying to beat Laanecoorie Dunolly on their home patch, and despite looking up to the challenge for large parts of their innings, ultimately collapsed from 1/84 to 9/143 off their 40 overs.
However, there were still positive moments. Wayne Stubbings looked superb in his knock of 60 — the highest score of the A grade season so far, while Ed Foreman added to his brilliant debut with another 35 runs, including two sixes.
Stubbings also delivered with the ball, taking 2/32 to add to his 60 with the bat.
However, it was Laane that proved to be far too good, which will mean they will need to bounce back against Beaufort.
Based off their last game against the Crows earlier this year, they will give themselves every chance.
Solid knocks of 33 from Jackson Gordon, 31 from Kane Shepherd and 28 from Richard Clark helped guide Colts to a total of 162 all out from 35.3 overs, while Anthony Bourke was the best performer with the ball for the Crows, taking 4/29.
In response, it was Nicholas Henderson who devastated the Crows’ top order, taking a quickfire 2/10 off his eight overs, including five maidens, before Patrick Pritchard finished off the job, cleaning up the bottom order to finish with 5/28 off 5.3 overs, as Beaufort were rolled for 93 in response off 39.3 overs.
