Free postcards to help Australians check in on loved ones and share important mental health messages are now available for Central Goldfields Shire residents to send to friends and family.
Australia Post has teamed up with Beyond Blue to deliver three million postcards which Australians can send free of charge to show they are thinking of family and friends in the lead-up to Mental Health Month (October).
This is the second time the initiative has run, first launched last year during lockdowns to help people stay in touch.
The blank, prepaid postcards also come with a tear-off section with information about the importance of connection for mental health.
Maryborough Post Office postal manager Kristy Bardsley said there are currently plenty of postcards available in store.
“These postcards are built around the idea that a simple gesture of writing a note to someone can make a big difference,” she said.
“It’s so important that we are talking about mental health and helping each other — I love that Australia Post is getting involved in supporting our local community.
“We have plenty here at the post office so anyone can drop in and pick one up.”
Beyond Blue CEO Georgie Harman said the partnership with Australia Post played a significant role in sharing important mental health messages with the community.
“Australia Post has delivered mental health information to more than seven million households since our partnership began in 2020,” she said.
“This postcard campaign is another way to get people talking about mental health and supporting each other.”
The free postcards are now available at the Maryborough Post Office.
