TALBOT 5.2 (32) def by HARCOURT 14.17 (101)
Harcourt’s first half was a powerful reminder that they continue to rule the roost in the league, easing to a 69-point win.
All the damage was done in the first half by the Lions, kicking six goals to one in the first quarter to take a 32-point lead, before dominating the second quarter, although being a touch inaccurate in the process, kicking five goals from 12 scoring shots to establish a 69-point break at half time.
Talbot, to their credit, did not lie die, kicking three goals in the third quarter, while holding Harcourt goalless, reducing the margin to 56 by the last break.
Harcourt were able to find their kicking boots again in the final term, kicking three goals, while holding Talbot to one, to eventually run out winners.
Bronson Martin was best on ground for the Lions, while Kal Huntly enjoyed a sensational afternoon, kicking seven goals. Kaleb McBride, Bryce Frost, Darby Semmens and Mark Noonan also played well.
For Talbot, Trent Severino, Trent Barras, new recruit Liam Hunter, Darcy Osborne and Alex Marshall were in their best, while Matthew Bond’s three goals helped him pass 500 goals for the Hawks.
