TALBOT 9.5 (59) def by NATTE BEALIBA 16.12 (108)
Natte Bealiba hit the ground running on Saturday and proved too strong for the B.A Road Services Talbot Hawks, with 14 first-half goals laying the groundwork for a 49-point victory.
It was a brutal first half from the Swans, who showed that they are going to take some beating when they are playing at their best in sweeping aside the Hawks.
An entertaining first quarter saw the Swans kick eight goals, but Talbot, to their credit, were hanging in there by kicking four goals of their own. As a result, it saw the Swans lead by 26 points at the first change.
There was no letting up for the Swans in the second term either. They added six more goals, while holding Talbot to two goals, as they extended their lead to 51 points by the main break.
From there, the scoring dried up. Nothing exemplified that more than the third quarter, where just one goal was scored — that coming from the Swans, while the Hawks could only add three behinds.
The margin was 57 points at the final change, but the Hawks regained some respectability back on the scoreboard by winning the final quarter, scoring three goals to one to reduce the margin.
The Swans continue to be served by a bevy of goalkickers — 10 of them hit the scoreboard on Saturday, giving them an average of just under 10 a game in their first four meetings this season. Will Holt led the way with four goals, while Will Cameron, Jayden Templeton and Bailey Jacobs added two each.
Cameron, from that end, was also best on ground, while Jai Howell, Jacobs, Trent Mortlock, Templeton and Holt were also named in the best.
For Talbot, Adam Scott continued his good season in front of goal, adding five of the Hawks’ nine, while Sam Hitchings, Trent Severino, Jude McGuire, Dylan Page and Luke Kemp also fought hard against the tide.
