Highland Gold had the chance to secure their finals spot when they hosted Avoca, but the visitors had other ideas, playing spoiler in a 64-55 victory.

Ian Proctor’s 32-13 victory over Paul Gothard was the key result in the tie, while Ann Loosmore followed suit with a 23-15 win over Lowen Clarke.

Roy Crawley picked up a potentially vital two points for Highland Gold, besting Daniel Giddings 27-9.

With that result, Maryborough Golf is now only five points adrift from Highland Gold after taking care of Carisbrook 71-45.

Despite Carisbrook’s Phillip Burt defeating Graeme Orr 22-18, Maryborough Golf took the victory with Kort Gay too good for Laurence Cassidy 28-16 and Elizabeth Bucknall besting Roy Pickering 25-7.

Dunolly Blue has secured double chance and the opportunity to take the minor premiership in the final round after a convincing per-formance over Talbot 82-37.

It was a clean sweep for Dunolly Blue as Chris Williams grabbed a 26-9 win over Ray Prentice, Alan Weir overwhelmed Barbara Crossley 29-13 and Tony Galofaro vanquished Chris Crossley 27-15.

Despite the loss, Talbot clinched their spot in the finals, only needing to win two rinks in round 14 to lockdown third.

The same scenario applies to Highland Tartan in their mission for the minor premiership, as their 96-34 win against Dunolly Gold puts them 13 points clear going into the final round.

Gregory Shay got Tartan off to a strong start with a 24-17 win over Fabio Delconte and his teammates followed suit with Leanne Wallis defeating Justin Ritchie 28-12 and Garry Coburn dominant against Wayne Stephens 44-5.

All eyes will be on Highland Gold and Maryborough Golf when the 14th and final round of the midweek pennant rolls into action.

The equation is simple for Highland Gold — win and they are in, but that will be a tough task against their sister team Highland Tartan looking to grab the minor premiership.

Maryborough Golf can ill afford to focus solely on other results, as they will need to beat third-placed Talbot away from home to give themselves a chance at finals.

Dunolly Blue will need a Tartan loss and a victory against Avoca if they want to claim the minor premiership, while Avoca will look to play spoiler again.

Carisbrook and Dunolly Gold will hope to finish their season on a high when they face off in Carisbrook.
