Member for Ripon Martha Haylett announced final works on the new easy access patient drop off zone and ancillary works at the $115 million hospital redevelopment are complete.

The completed works have transformed the hospital precinct with the removal of the old Urgent Care Centre, revealing the original 1850s building facade.

The exterior includes a new pedestrian ramp to the main entrance, turning circle and additional accessible car parking are ensuring easier access to care.

A final part of the works, Djandak and members of the Djaara Women’s Knowledge Group worked alongside Fairbrother Construction to plant a range of native shrubs and trees to create a welcoming, culturally connected space for all patients, staff and visitors.

Delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority, the redevelopment includes a new urgent care centre, a 32 bed in patient unit, two operating theatres and recovery spaces, and a day medical centre housing imaging, pharmacy, oncology, dialysis and infusion services.

Newest locals in the community are arriving in the upgraded maternity unit, ensuring mums with low-risk pregnancies do not have to travel further distances to large regional centres.

Opening its doors in April last year, the state-of-the-art hospital is already supporting demand in the region, enabling an extra 4000 patients to be treated each year.

The modern design and layout are improving patient flow, delivering a safer and more efficient workplace for staff and better care for patients.

The hospital also includes new consultant suites, a reception area and more car parking for locals.

Ms Haylett said several patients have been treated at the hospital since the opening last year.

“The redeveloped hospital has already helped thousands of locals receive the best care, close to home,” she said.

“The landscaping and finishing touches look fantastic and are the cherry on the top, making the state-of-the-art hospital even better for local families.”

Minister for Health Infra-structure Melissa Horne seconded this statement.

“Now that these final works on the hospital redevelopment are complete, the community can enjoy a modern, accessible and welcoming health precinct that will meet the region’s needs for years to come,” she said.
