Lexton were never headed after a fast start which saw them dominate from the outset as they took four points away from Trentham Reserve.

The Tigers were able to put the foot down from the very start as they scored 17 goals to four in the opening term, looking to make a statement that they’re still very much in the frame for a top four spot.

Rachel Phelan scored 16 goals for the Tigers, while Leesa Donhardt added one, and for the Saints, Jacqui Bell scored three goals and Zahlia Turton one.

The Tiger train showed no signs of slowing down in the second term, scoring 16 goals to nine in the second term to make it a 20-goal game at the main break, leading 33-13.

This time, it was Donhardt who did the bulk of the scoring, scoring 10 goals, while Phelan added six, while for Trentham, Bell scored eight goals and Turton one.

Trentham had their most competitive period of the game in the third quarter, restricting the Tigers to 14 goals, but scoring nine of their own, to keep the margin at 25 goals going into the final change, with Lexton leading 47-22. Phelan scored 12 goals and Donhardt two for the Tigers, while for the Saints, Bell scored six goals and Tarnee Hammond three.

The Tigers finished off the game strongly to score 16 goals to eight to eventually run away with a strong win. Phelan finished with 13 goals to end up with 47 for the day, while Donhardt scored three. For Trentham, Hammond scored all eight of their goals.

Lexton will now have a significant test for their top four credentials when they look to move ahead of Carisbrook, with the two teams meeting at Carisbrook next week, while Trentham’s season will be on the line when they travel to sixth-placed Newstead.
