Energy events coming soon
Central Goldfields Shire Council will be hosting a series of free home energy empowerment events, encouraging locals to save household energy usage and money.
The Home Energy Empowerment Program will offer 16 free community events including a mix of in person workshops, online lunch and learns, and a chance to visit and hear from other locals about saving money and improving comfort in their home.
Starting on Monday, May 12, the program will assist both home-owners and renters with planning, improving energy efficiency and explaining support programs currently offered to offset the cost of upgrading to sustainable and cost-saving energy solutions.
Central Goldfields Shire mayor Grace La Vella said every household can benefit from improvements to their energy efficiency.
“Savings from switching to newer, more effective appliances can make a real difference to the hip pocket. The home energy empowerment program is leading the way by explaining the improvements available to our local community right now,” she said.
“There’s also a host of simple, cost-saving ideas like draught-proofing, insulation and shading, many of which are do-it-yourself projects. Plus you have professionals in the field and other local people with lived experience to help guide you through some of rebates and subsidies on offer.”
The program was developed as a collaborative project led by the City of Greater Bendigo, with partner councils including Mount Alexander, Macedon Ranges, Pyrenees and Central Goldfields shires.
Goldfields Sustainability Group and Mill House are local partners supporting the Central Goldfields program of events.
The first event will be held on Monday, May 12 from 5.30 pm with a free Home Energy Efficiency Planning session at the Maryborough Library led by energy assessor, trainer and educator, Lucinda Flynn from Going Green Solutions.
This hands-on workshop will show which upgrades are best to boost your personal home comfort and savings.
The session will inform attendees on how to make home energy plans, regardless of their budget.
This will be followed by a tailored pathway of specialised sessions focussed on energy efficiency savings.
