Dunolly firmed for finals, as well as keeping themselves in the frame for a top four spot, when they defeated Maryborough Rovers on Saturday.
The Eagles started off much the stronger, scoring 18 goals to nine to take a nine-goal lead into the first change, and extended it in the second quarter when they were able to score 12 goals to nine, allowing them to take a 12-goal lead into the main break.
But Maryborough Rovers have fought hard in all their games this season, and weren’t prepared to let the Eagles run away with the game. Instead, they scored 16 goals in the third quarter, while holding Dunolly to 11, to cut the margin to seven goals at the final change.
However, Dunolly were able to rebound in the last quarter, scoring 14 goals to 10 to eventually record a double-digit victory.
Zoe Aldridge scored 34 goals for Dunolly, with Samantha Cheetham adding 21. For Rovers, Carly Scholes led the way with 34 goals.
