MALDON (54) def TALBOT (28)

Relief at last for Maldon, who made it the perfect day to celebrate their 150th anniversary by recording their maiden win of the A grade netball season.

The result saw the Dons jump up from 14th to 12th as a result, and while their season may be shot, they will certainly give themselves every opportunity to record some more wins to restore some validity to what has been a tough season.

A fast start allowed the Dons to take control from the outset, scoring 14 goals in the opening term to the Hawks’ six to establish an eight-goal lead at the first change.

The Dons’ most dominant quarter was the second quarter, scoring 16 goals to eight to extend their lead to 16 goals at the main break.

Maldon continued to extend their lead in the third term, scoring 14 goals to seven to sit 23 goals clear at the last change, before adding a further 10 goals to seven to finish off 26-goal winners.

Ainsley Taft scored 30 goals for the victorious Dons, while Zoe Backway added 24 more. For Talbot, Dom Roche scored 15 goals, while Tia Skelton scored 13.
