With competition heating up for spots in Victoria’s Sheffield Shield team, Cam McClure has served a reminder of his talents by putting in a standout bowling performance in Victoria’s second XI match against Tasmania in Greenvale.

McClure ripped through the Tasmanian middle order to spearhead a collapse which saw them rolled for 145 in their first innings, which followed Victoria making 256 in their first innings.

He took five wickets for the innings, including the wickets of dangerous opener Jake Weatherald, while Zac Curtain, Nicholas Davis, Josh Hartill and Aidan O’Connor were also victims as McClure had 5/9 at one stage, before finishing with figures of 5/20 off 12 overs.

The second innings was a greater struggle for Victoria, despite setting Tasmania 424 to win.

At the end of the third day’s play, Tasmania were 1/286, with McClure taking the only wicket, that of Nivethan Radhakrishnan for 32.

McClure had figures of 1/29 off eight overs at the conclusion of day three.
