Delly to transfer to Sydney Kings
After making back-to-back NBL Championship Series with Melbourne United, Maryborough product Matthew Dellavedova has reportedly agreed to a multi-year deal with the Sydney Kings.

The four-time Olympian entered free agency as one of the prized players on the open market after being named 2025 Championship Series MVP in United’s defeat to the Illawarra Hawks, the team’s second consecutive runner-up finish.
With the point guard pursuing a multi-year deal that would take him to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, Dellavedova also met with representatives at the Brisbane Bullets and the Perth Wildcats, a team United defeated in the 2025 finals who were looking to replace the talents of five-time league MVP Bryce Cotton.
After much deliberation, Dellavedova decided the best move for him was signing with the Kings, who finished the 2024/25 season with a 16-13 record and were knocked out by the Adelaide 36ers in the play-in tournament.
Dellavedova will have some familiar faces at his new home, reuniting with former Australian Men’s Basketball head coach Brian Goorjian and former Boomers teammate Andrew Bogut, who has joined Goorjian’s coaching staff as an assistant.
