Matthew Dellavedova’s return to the National Basketball Association (NBA) is guaranteed, with Sacramento finalising their roster following their pre-season campaign, which saw the Kings win four consecutive games, including an impressive 47-point victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday.

Dellavedova, who was on a non-guaranteed contract with the Kings, was announced in their final roster for the opening night of their seasonon Thursday, named alongside forwards KZ Okpala and Chima Moneke on Saturday.

He faced competition for the final point guard slot on the roster, with QuinnCook—who had previously won championships with the Golden State Warriors in 2018 and Lakers in 2020, also competing to provide back-up minutes for first choice point guards De’Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell.

However, when Cook, along with Kent Bazemore and Sam Merrill, were waived by the Kings during the week, Dellavedova’s spot on theroster was assured.

Dellavedova has proven to be a steady veteran influence for the Kings during pre-season, despite getting limited game time, averaging 2.3 points, 2.3 assists and one rebound in just under nine minutes per game — with his performance against the Lakers yielding seven points, dishing off two assists and a steal.

His return to the NBA coincides with Mike Brown — who gave Dellavedova his opportunity with Cleveland — returning to a head coaching role.
