It’s season over for Matthew Dellavedova and his Sacramento Kings in the NBA — but not without a tremendous fight.

The Kings faced up to the challenge of reigning champions, the Golden State Warriors, and although they were eliminated, the third seed gave a great account of themselves in their first playoff appearance since the 2005-06 season.

Although Dellavedova did not take the floor during the playoffs, his experience continued to prove handy off the court throughout, with the Kings playing good basketball in their series.

They were able to win the first two games of the series at their home at the Golden 1 Centre, but suffered a setback when they lost the following three games, including game five at home, to fall 3-2 down.

A brilliant performance in game six away from home saw them set up a deciding game seven, where Stephen Curry’s individual brilliance for the Warriors, scoring a game seven playoff record 50 points, eventually sent the Kings packing.

Regardless, it was a brilliant season for the Kings as they look to set up shop as a regular playoff contender, with coach Mike Brown awarded NBA Coach of the Year, while teammates De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis earned NBA Most Valuable Player votes.

Dellavedova played in 32 regular season games, averaging 1.5 points per game and 1.3 assists per game in limited playing time.
