Beaufort will be looking to bounce back from their loss to Maryborough last week when they host Clunes at Beaufort Secondary College on Saturday.
The Crows had a frustrating afternoon at Jubilee Oval against the Owls on Saturday, with their batting lineup unable to make the quick runs required against a very economical Owls bowling attack, which will admittedly look to cause many teams headaches this season on exposed form.
Blake Jantzen was their top scorer and most impressive performer, making a fighting 31, while also taking 1/5 with the ball.
The Crows now take on a Clunes outfit that faced frustration on Saturday when their game against Colts Phelans — which had already been moved from Clunes — was washed out.
This game is simply a must-win for both teams. Beaufort will have the bye in the last round, and are already all but out of contention for the T20 competition following their loss to the Owls last week, while Clunes will need to get a win ahead of a trip to the reigning champions in Laane next week.
Clunes will be looking for immediate impact from Jude McGuire and Jackson Smyth on Saturday afternoon as they get their season started after a long wait.
Beaufort comes in having won the last encounter between these two teams, with a superb 57 not out from Zac McLeod proving to be the difference in the Crows’ four-wicket victory, having recovered from 4/24 at one stage.
Their target of 104 was reached with just six balls to spare, with Clunes having made 7/103 off their 20 overs, with Mark Allen top scoring with 45.
Lachlan Oddie was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2/13 off his four overs, while McLeod also contributed with the ball, taking 2/19 on that occasion. Clunes’ best bowler was Sam Williams, who took 1/12 off his four overs.
