The weekend’s extreme heat saw all games for the final round of the Maryborough District Cricket Association (MDCA) called off across A grade and A reserve.

With temperatures forecast to reach 38 degrees on Saturday and Sunday, the decision was made by the MDCA to call off the remainder of play, which means all teams share the points.

As a result, the finals is now finalised for both A grade and A reserve for next week’s games.

Minor premier Laanecoorie Dunolly will host Beaufort in a rematch of the one-day grand final when the two meet at True Blue Floors Oval on Saturday and Sunday.

The previous meeting saw Laane prove successful, winning by 111 runs at Goldfields Reserve in round 12.

Clunes and Colts Phelans will meet in the other semi-final to be played at Bull Millgate Reserve.

Before bushfires forced the abandonment of their round 14 clash, the Magpies were in a strong position to claim first innings points, having made 5/307.

The final ladder sees Laanecoorie Dunolly on top with 66 points, Clunes in second on 47, Colts Phelans third with 44, Beaufort fourth with 43, Carisbrook fifth in their first season back in A grade with 24 points and Maryborough sixth and bottom with 16 points.

The ladder for A reserve has also been finalised, with Talbot finishing on top.

Their one-day win against Maryborough two weeks ago proved to be fruitful for the Yabbies — had they lost, they would have instead finished in third position.

The Yabbies will host Natte Yallock at Talbot Recreation Reserve in their semi-final, while second-placed Clunes will host Mary-borough at a yet-to-be-determined venue, due to the unavailability of Bull Millgate Oval for the Magpies’ A grade team.

The final ladder saw the Yabbies on top with 66 points, Clunes second on 60 points, Maryborough third on 54 points, Natte Yallock fourth with 48, Colts Phelans fifth on 36, Beaufort sixth on 30, Carisbrook seventh on 24 and MKM on the bottom with 18 points.
