The group is open to hearing from local musicians, actors, sculptors, visual artists, film makers and dancers to join the coordinator to determine the best use of the space.

This follows the Central Goldfields Shire welcoming $100,000 of funding in September 2024, not only delivering numerous upgrades and facilities toward the Station, but allowing a community space for local arts and creativity.

Creative Space project coordinator Amanda Western said these spaces are vital for the community in achieving their vision for long term creative and cultural potential.

“Part of this first stage of the activation is establishing a sustainable governance and management model for the Creative Space,” she said.

Ms Western said there is ample scope for all kinds of creative locals to be involved.

“We’ve received that funding to design and deliver a six-month pilot program for our Creative Space and courtyard,” she said.

Central Goldfields Shire mayor Grace La Vella said it was exciting to see plans for this community space underway.

“We’re thrilled that the Creative Station Project is jumping into action. In bringing the Railway Station back to life, the final piece of the puzzle is coming together with the refurbished Creative Space,” she said.

“We thank the Victorian Government for it’s funding support, helping to bring a vibrant arts and creative community to our tourist gateway. This is so important for our community and its wellbeing too, with all kinds of arts and performances having a place they can now thrive.”

Those interested have until February 21 to join. All enquiries should be to the coordinator Creative Station Project, Amanda Western, at mail@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au or 5461-0610.
