1 min read

A Melbourne woman has been placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond after she was caught driving to a Maryborough chemist on a suspended licence.

The woman, who was residing in Dunolly at the time of the offending, fronted the Maryborough Magistrates’ Court last week where she pleaded guilty to a single charge of driving while suspended.

The court heard that at around 3 pm on December 27 last year, the accused was observed by police driving along the Maryborough-Dunolly Road.

Licence checks undertaken by police revealed the accused’s licence had been suspended by VicRoads in August for a period of 12 months.

The accused told police at the time that her reason for driving without a licence was to go to a pharmacy in Maryborough to have a prescription made up, the court heard.

Representing herself in court last week, the accused explained to the court that she was deeply remorseful for her behaviour which has impacted her life significantly.

Magistrate Sharon McRae placed the accused on a 12 month good behaviour bond and recorded no conviction.

“It seems to me you’ve had a very difficult past 12 months and this is fairly out of character for you,” she said.
