Man convicted and fined over ecstasy and taser
1 min read

A drug bust in Maryborough that uncovered ecstasy and a taser has seen a man convicted and fined $750.

It was heard in the Maryborough Magistrates’ Court last week that on March 13 at around 6.30 am a search warrant was executed at Stephen Trailovic’s Maryborough address.

During the search, a ziplock bag containing tablets, believed to be ecstasy were located, along with a taser.

Mr Trailovic told police at the time the items were for personal use, the court heard.

Mr Trailovic pleaded guilty to the charges following the search, including possession, before Magistrate Sharon McRae on Thursday.

His defence lawyer acknowledged the accused’s prior history of similar offending last year, which saw Mr Trailovic serve a term of imprisonment, but argued the items found during the search were old and were not being used.

Mr Trailovic was fully cooperative with police during the search, his defence lawyer told the court and in light of this, argued a fine would be suitable.

In sentencing Magistrate Sharon McRae told Mr Trailovic it was his responsibility to ensure illicit items were not in his possession.

“You’ve really put yourself in a poor position given the nature of your prior matters,” she said.

“You say that these items were just hanging around but you’ve got to be very proactive to make sure you don’t have any items that are drug or weapon related.

“I think there are certainly good prospects for you at the moment.

“Go through your house and anything that you shouldn’t have and you know you shouldn’t have, get rid of it.”

Mr Trailovic was convicted and fined $750, as well as $131.50 in legal costs, while the tablets and taser were ordered to be destroyed.
