1 min read

A woman caught driving while suspended has been placed on a 12 month good behaviour bond.

The woman fronted the Maryborough Magistrates Court earlier this month charged with driving while suspended and failing to notify VicRoads of a change of address.

The court heard that at around 8.20 am on July 23, 2022, police observed the accused driving along Clarendon Street, Maryborough and intercepted her.

Police checks revealed the accused’s licence had been suspended for a three month period and further checks with VicRoads showed the accused’s listed address as Diggers Rest, however the accused stated she no longer lived there.

When interviewed by police the accused admitted to not notifying VicRoads of the change of address and said she was unaware of the suspension on her licence.

The accused’s vehicle was impounded for a 30-day period at a cost of $1600.

Representing herself in court, the accused stated she was couch surfing at the time she changed address but is now residing with family.

Magistrate Russell Kelly placed the accused on a 12 month good behaviour bond with the condition she make a $500 donation to the court fund.
