New mayor for Central Goldfields Shire
1 min read

Councillor Liesbeth Long will take on the role of Central Goldfields Shire mayor next week.

The Flynn Ward councillor was first elected to council in 2020, and at a statutory meeting on Tuesday will be sworn in as mayor for the next 12 months.

Cr Long takes on the role from Maryborough Ward Cr Grace La Vella who has served in the role for the past 12 months.

“I am humbled by the opportunity and excited by the challenge of representing the Central Goldfields community over the next 12 months,” Cr Long said.

“My motivation to be mayor comes from a deep sense of wanting to serve and have a positive impact on other people and the world around me.”

Cr Long will be the third mayor to serve since the council was elected in 2020, following Cr Chris Meddows-Taylor and Cr La Vella.
