Council to host CFA event
Pyrenees Shire Council is partnering with the CFA District 16 community engagement team for a Community Bushfire Meeting in Moonambel.

The meeting forms part of the Victorian Government’s Safer Together Program — Strengthening Local Government Partnerships.
As part of this program, Pyrenees Shire Council received $300,000 to deliver collaborative and community focused projects to assist in reducing bushfire risk and building community preparedness, known as the Safer Together Bushfire Resilience Project.
As part of this project, the Community Bushfire Meeting aims to promote conversations and actions around bushfire preparedness in Moonambel and the surrounding areas.
This free session will cover:
How to know if there is a fire nearby
What to expect during a bushfire or grassfire
Your bushfire or grassfire risk
The importance of having a plan
Basic survival tips if your fire plan fails
Pyrenees Shire Council CEO Jim Nolan said the Safer Together Bushfire Resilience Project is a great opportunity to build community knowledge, skills and resources to assist residents to be better prepared for future disasters such as bushfire.
“Bushfires have devastated parts of the Pyrenees Shire in the past few years; this project will give our residents the tools and knowledge to best prepare them for future bushfire events,” Mr Nolan said.
“Events such as the Moonambel Bushfire Meeting are a great way for residents to learn the importance of having a bushfire plan and knowing when to enact that plan.”
The meeting will take place at the Moonambel Recreation Reserve on Wednesday, September 3 at 7 pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend and council particularly encourages residents new to the area to come along and take part.
