Do you have highflying ideas about how to help the Maryborough Aerodrome take off?
Central Goldfields Shire Council is inviting expressions of interest from community members to serve on the Aerodrome Advisory Group.
The group will provide expert advice and guidance to the council on matters related to the management, development, operation and maintenance of the Maryborough Aerodrome.
New terms of reference were adopted in December to strengthen governance, and to extend member terms from two years to three, enabling them to stay involved with longer-term projects.
Council has previously announced a runway of opportunities to improve the aerodrome so it meets community needs and provides long-term benefits.
Council has secured $185,000 in Federal Government funding through the Regional Airports Program and has committed matching funds of $185,000 over two financial years.
This funding will deliver upgrades including:
Pilot-activated lighting
AdvertisementAircraft radio alert systems
Helipad tower refurbishment
Refuelling facilities
Runway and taxiway resurfacing
Tie-down areas and parking improve-ments
The terms of reference provide for the Aerodrome Advisory Committee to include an emergency services representative; a local resident; a flight training provider and two aerodrome tenants.
Members will be selected through a public expression-of-interest process which is now open, closing Friday, February 27. Appointment to the Advisory Committee will be confirmed by resolution of council.
