A community information session on Campbells Creek’s community vet clinic project will run this weekend, where locals can find out more about the clinic and meet those behind it.

The Regional Community Vet Clinic (RCVC) group is currently working to establish a non-profit community funded veterinary clinic — a first for regional Victoria — in Campbells Creek to provide affordable veterinary care for companion animals when their owners are experiencing social disadvantage or financial hardship in central Victoria.

The information session is open to everyone and will give the public an opportunity to see the proposed site at Campbells Creek Community Centre where RCVC plan to base operations from.

RCVC founding member and secretary James Mack said the group wants to ensure the community is up-to-date on the clinic’s plans and goals.

“Community is at the heart of everything we do, and we want to make sure our community feel well informed about our plans, our goals, how to support us and how we are spending donations,” he said.

While still waiting on fundraising to establish the clinic, the RCVC have already held a de-sexing day for cats and plan to host more — along with vaccinating and micro-chipping days — in the future.

They’re also aiming to begin a community outreach program providing at home pet care services for those unable to travel due to financial or medical reasons.

The community information session will be held this Sunday, July 17, at 2 pm at the Campbells Creek Community Centre on 60 Elizabeth Street.
