The cheque was presented to the Maryborough Red Cross president Jan Williamson last Friday night.

“We really appreciate it, because without this, we have to raise the money in other ways, and it’s a phenomenal thing they do for all of the charities in the town,” she said.

The money will go towards their patient transport program, used to assist locals that require medical care as far as Melbourne and Geelong.

“We have many arms, we have the pillow case program with local schools, we make trauma teddies for the local hospital, two Maryborough Red Cross cars and a lot of drivers,” Ms Williamson said.

The Maryborough Red Cross team said they are very grateful for the appreciation and unity shown by the town and surrounding district. They look forward to continuing their work for the betterment of the community.
