Delivered by the Avoca District Co-operative Limited, the grant program is funded through the profits generated by the Community Bank Avoca, Maryborough and St Arnaud branches.

As part of the community bank model, the majority of profits are returned directly to the region, supporting projects and initiatives that strengthen local communities.

With more than $2.7 million already reinvested locally, the autumn grant program continues the bank’s commitment to backing organisations that make towns thrive.

To further support local groups, a community grant information forum will be held next week, hosted by executive officer Julie Driscoll, to walk through the application process, eligibility criteria and key requirements, as well as answering any general questions.

Community organisations considering applying are strongly encouraged to attend and learn how to put forward a strong submission.

“These grants exist because of the support of our customers. When people choose to bank locally, they help create opportunities for local organisations to grow and deliver meaningful impact,” Ms Driscoll said.

“If you’re thinking about applying, please reach out. We’re more than happy to talk through your idea, check you eligibility and guide you through the application process. We want to make it easy as possible for groups to put their best foot forward.”

Some successful recipients in recent rounds of community grants were Maryborough Theatre Company, Avoca Friends of the Pool, Maryborough Community House and Avoca Riverside Market.

Community groups are encouraged to start preparing early, allowing time to gather quotes, letters of support and any required documentation.

The Community Grant Information Forum will be held at Maryborough Community Hub at

6 pm on Monday, February 23.

The grant program will be open from March 1 to 31, 2026.
