After struggling in the early stages of the game, Colts Phelans were able to turn their game against Clunes and eventually record a comfortable eight-wicket victory.
The Magpies batted first on what looked to be a good pitch to make runs, and were rewarded early when the pairing of Anthony Ellis and Mark Allen were able to put on 50 for the first wicket. However, that came to an end when Allen edged one through to Liam Tatchell off the bowling of Ben Stubbings.
Clunes continued on their merry way in the early part of their innings, with Ashley Gunn and Ellis adding another 51 to the total to leave the Magpies 1/101.
However, the introduction of the returning Dayne Baker proved to be the impetus Colts needed to get back into the game. He would take two quick wickets, trapping Gunn in front and removing him for lbw on 24, before bowling Jude McGuire.
Soon after, Ellis would be removed after top scoring with 56, caught by Matt Scott off the bowling of Ed Foreman.
From there, Clunes lost their last six wickets for just 32 runs, while all in all, they would lose nine wickets for 40 runs, eventually dismissed for 141 off 39 overs.
Baker ran rampant with the ball, finishing with figures of 5/17 off his eight overs, while Stubbings took 3/22.
Colts made a strong start to proceedings with Callum Watts opening with Scott, and got the score up to 48 before Scott was run out by Shehzad Muhammad.
The door seemed to be ajar a few balls later when Watts was caught by Ellis off the bowling of Troy Thomson, but the game turned when Rhys Egan, who was scoreless, was bowled on a no-ball.
Egan made the most of his second chance alongside Foreman, with Foreman finishing on 48 not out, while Egan continued his recent good form, finishing on 43 not out to help guide Colts to an eight-wicket win with 73 balls to spare.
Thomson was the pick of the bowlers, finishing on 1/19 off six overs.
The result leaves Colts in the frame for a one-day final berth, but they will be required to beat Maryborough at Princes Park next week, while Clunes face a difficult task when they travel to Laanecoorie Dunolly.
