It will be intriguing to see what path Colts Phelans decides to take tomorrow as they seek 274 runs to defeat Laanecoorie Dunolly.
It will be just the sixth occasion this year that Colts will be chasing, but they have a positive record from it, scoring three wins and two losses.
Mind you, those two losses were still somewhat positive per-formances with the bat, with their loss to Beaufort seeing them make 127 from 20 overs, and their loss to Maryborough seeing them make 218 from 40 overs.
Making 274 against Laane, however, is an altogether different challenge, and it is a team which they have struggled to make runs against this season.
In both of their limited overs meetings, Laane were successful in keeping Colts to just 3.2 runs an over.
That speaks volumes of their tight bowling throughout the season, with Joe Lovel, Daniel Romeo, Sergio Rosier, Zach Graham and Sam Bartlett all combining for 77 wickets.
And after a day which saw them make 273, with Luke Smith continuing his sterling form with 64, and Graham making an unbeaten 65, there will no doubt be a bit of freedom for Laane to pursue wickets with some creative bowling.
With finals coming up, Laane will simply be hoping to get the job done and warm up for a big finals series.
For Colts, their best batting has come when they have been aggressive so far this season, and they’ll need to be at their best tomorrow to give it a big shake.
Rhys Wagstaff will be hoping to get himself a big score prior to the finals, having scored well in two of his three games during the two-day season, including two half-centuries.
Dave Robinson has scored 260 runs for the season, and will be hoping to turn around his fortunes against Laane, having scored just two runs across both meetings.
The likes of Luke Tatchell (169 runs), Rhys Egan (146) and Dayne Baker (140) will also need to be called upon on Saturday.
