Sheridan, Annabelle, Indy, Matilda, Shakira and Miller are expecting a colour spree this Saturday.

Organised by the Central Goldfields Shire Council, the free event is headlined by two colour runs for children under 12 with parents and guardians invited to join the fun at 11 am and young people aged 12 to 25 at 12.30 pm.

Young residents will also get to enjoy jumping castles, a live DJ, games and a photo booth as part of the festivities.

The event has been supported by the State Government’s FReeZA and Youth Fest campaigns, enabling young people to plan and develop youth-friendly events locally, as well as Youth Live4Life who will be selling merchandise to raise money for their youth mental health programs.

According to Central Goldfields Shire youth worker Gemma Simpson, Youth Fest is an exciting way for young people to enjoy each other’s company.

“Youth Fest is a Victorian Government initiative all about providing opportunities for our local young people to come together and have some fun at and so we thank the Victorian Government for the funding to make this possible,” she said.

“Colour runs have grown in popularity across the world in recent years. For those who haven’t participated in one before — it’s a unique event that sees participants wear white, run a set distance and be splashed with coloured powder by volunteers at various stages.

“Essentially, they finish their run plastered in colour having had lots of fun and made lots of wonderful memories. Colour runs are a fantastic way to foster community and create lasting connections.”
