Coaching movement across teams within the MCDFNL, as well as the Maryborough Magpies, are gaining steam ahead of preparations for the 2023 pre-season.
Maryborough have wasted no time in settling their netball coaching lineup for 2023, with Jordan MacIlwain taking over the head coaching role, with Carla Hare set to be her assistant.
MacIlwain takes over from Alicia Cassidy, who will be staying on as 17 and under coach.
The Magpies finished seventh last season in A grade, and will be looking to move into the top five in 2023.
Meantime, there have been some recent coaching changes in the MCDFNL, with Natte Bealiba looking to secure new senior and A grade coaches for next season.
Zeik Johnston has decided to move back to Tasmania with his family, while Natte’s A grade premiership winning coach Sue Borserio has decided to step down from her role.
Avoca have locked in Maddy and Kerry Egan for another season of coaching the A, B and C grade in 2023, as they look to rebound from their preliminary final defeat in A grade and return to the summit of the MCDFNL competition.
The Bulldogs have also settled on their football coach for 2023, with Zack Lubeek taking over from Darren Antonio.
After finishing 12th with three wins in 2022, they will be looking to bounce back into the top eight next year.
Maldon have also settled on their coaching lineup for their 150th anniversary season next year, with Damien Lock announced as the senior coach last week, while Elizabeth Woodward will be taking over as A and B grade coach from Kim Williams.
Both of the Bombers’ senior teams were able to enjoy finals appearances last year, but will be looking to take another step.
Finally, Trentham’s senior team will also be taken control by a new coach, with Hepburn premiership coach Clive Raak taking over from Rick Dowling, as they look to end their premiership drought which extends into a 29th season.
The Saints were the dominant team in the home and away season in 2022, but fell in the preliminary final to Carisbrook.
