Telstra 5G will deliver more consistent speeds, smoother streaming, and faster download times to customers in this region.

Delivering 5G to the area will also help boost the area’s existing 4G performance.

Telstra customers in the area will be impacted by temporary disruptions with Telstra mobile services affected while the upgrade works are underway.

This follows other recent local network upgrades including Newstead and Mount Moliagul.

Telstra regional general manager for northern and western victoria Steve Tinker said bringing 5G to Clunes is a major milestone.

“We know how important mobile connectivity is for Australians, whether you’re in the city or the country. It will deliver higher speeds and capacity to the region, meaning faster downloads, smoother streaming and less congestion,” he said.

Mr Tinker said while some disruption will occur while the upgrade is underway, this will only occur briefly.

“We will have it back online and working better than ever as quickly as possible,” he said.

The site will be switched off between Monday, February 17 and Friday, February 21. There will be no Telstra mobile coverage during that time.

Telstra mobile customers will receive texts advising of the upcoming work.

Landline services, NBN internet services, and mobile coverage from other providers will not be impacted.

Telstra customers can continue to make calls and send texts during disruption to mobile services by switching on Wi-Fi Calling.

Business owners are encouraged to talk to their bank about connecting their eftpos terminals to their NBN or Wi-Fi connection to prevent delays in processing transactions.
