On a tricky day for batting, Clunes were able to put themselves in pole position for a spot in the T20 grand final thanks to a five-wicket win against Carisbrook.

As it was the day before, Carisbrook won the toss and elected to bat.

However, Carisbrook were quickly in trouble.

Cole Harris was bowled by Noah Davies for two runs, while Brett Coon and Brendan Ingram combined for a run-out.

When Mark Allen was able to lure Martin Mark into hitting a ball straight to Lachlan Morganti, Carisbrook were 3/18.

Dean Nalder was required to make some good runs for Carisbrook, alongside Jarryd Coghlan, but the latter was not able to stick around, with Coon taking his wicket to leave Carisbrook reeling at 4/23.

Nalder and William Coutts were able to bring the score up to 47, but Nalder was next to go as a smart piece of work from Jude McGuire caught Nalder off his line.

James Adam played aggressively as he looked to give Carisbrook a fighting chance, scoring 16 runs before he was run out by Jaxon Smyth.

Caleb Cluff was the last player to fall, as Davies claimed his wicket for seven runs. Carisbrook made 7/86 off their 20 overs.

Carisbrook needed a quick start if they were to be a chance of defending their total, and they were able to get it when Nick Broad bowled Allen for four.

However, Brenton Jones and Morganti soon ensured the Magpies would have a foothold in the game, putting on a quickfire 31-run partnership.

Jones was next to fall as he was clean bowled, but Morganti, alongside McGuire, kept the runs ticking along.

McGuire departed on five after he was caught and bowled, and not long after, Morganti was stumped by Coutts off the bowling of Nalder to leave Carisbrook a sneaky chance at 4/59.

Anthony Ellis, however, was determined to ensure that wasn’t the case.

Mitch Coppick, at the other end, was unable to get away, making two before Cooper Willis caught him off the bowling of Adam.

However, Jaxon Smyth played a handy cameo to finish off the game to help Clunes run over the top of Carisbrook’s total with 22 balls to spare.
