Three Clunes cricketers have learned their fate for a serious breach of Maryborough District Cricket Association (MDCA) rules after a marathon process which was determined prior to the weekend’s grand final.
The Advertiser understands the penalties are as follows:
Ash Gunn received a penalty of 12 months suspension, as well as breaching a previous suspended sentence of eight weeks. Gunn has also received a suspended sentence for 24 months.
Sam Williams, who did not play with Clunes throughout the season, has been suspended for 12 months.
Clunes captain Mitch Coppick has also been indicted, and has received a suspended sentence of 12 weeks for 24 months.
It is also understood that the players continued to play through a provisional suspension set before the MDCA finals.
