Three Clunes cricketers have learned their fate for a serious breach of Maryborough District Cricket Association (MDCA) rules after a marathon process which was determined prior to the weekend’s grand final.

The Advertiser understands the penalties are as follows:

  • Ash Gunn received a penalty of 12 months suspension, as well as breaching a previous suspended sentence of eight weeks. Gunn has also received a suspended sentence for 24 months.

  • Sam Williams, who did not play with Clunes throughout the season, has been suspended for 12 months.

  • Clunes captain Mitch Coppick has also been indicted, and has received a suspended sentence of 12 weeks for 24 months.

  • It is also understood that the players continued to play through a provisional suspension set before the MDCA finals.
