Last start winners Clunes host their second consecutive match at home when they take on Maryborough, who will be playing their first game in three weeks.
The season has not been ideal for all teams in truth, but the Owls have yet to play in two consecutive matches, and will be looking to string together some good form over the coming weeks, weather permitting.
While they have already shown to be a force with the ball, with the likes of Akon Mawien, Harry Lumsden and Ben Hoban bowling well, they haven’t been able to show their power with the bat yet.
Their last start was against Colts Phelans in the final T20 fixture of the season, and after a reasonable start with the ball, holding Colts to 6/104, they were unable to make an impact on the chase with the bat, falling to 9/62 off their 20 overs.
Meantime, Clunes were able to take their first win of the season in their last start against Beaufort in a thrilling match, restricting the Crows to 9/134 before chasing down their total with 10 overs to spare, but not without a fright, falling to 6/60.
Aidan Thompson had an impressive outing with the bat, scoring a confident 27 not out to seal the game, while Anthony Ellis and Jaxon Smyth also played well, scoring 28 and 22 respectively.
This game will loom as an interesting battle, with this game being the first meeting between the two teams since the 2020/21 semi final at Princes Park, which was won by the Owls.
On that occasion, Sam Bartlett and Mitch McClure were the stars with the bat, sharing a 92-run partnership which allowed the Owls to take control of the game before Bartlett was run out for 52, while McClure holed out late in the innings for a top-scoring 67.
In response, Clunes were never in the game, falling to 6/17 early on thanks to the work of Jake Postle, who led the way with 3/16, while Jason Hunt took 2/18.
