The Carisbrook Football Netball Club have secured a grant which will be used on netball, while the Maryborough Cricket Club and Maryborough District Cricket Association were also recipients in the first round of the program which will go towards cricket programs.

They are part of the 740 clubs who have received 875 grants in this financial year’s first round, and will share over $1.2 million from the program as a result.

The grants will allow clubs to become proactive with their spending, with the ability to purchase uniforms and equipment, upskilling volunteers, coaches and officials, while also being able to build accessibility and engagement with their local communities.

The total amount that has been dished out to community sporting clubs has now totalled over $18 million over the past decade, greatly helping clubs that have made an impact across their local community.

Minister for Community Sport, Ros Spence, said the grants will help further boost clubs.

“This is a major boost for clubs across the state — we’re making sure clubs have the skills and equipment they need to thrive, and get more people involved,” she said.

“We want our local sporting clubs to be backing the next generation of local champions – and these grants provide them the chance to do just that.”
