Cassidy’s first game of the Country Cup was played in Warrion, located near Colac, on Sunday afternoon, but it was a tough day for the Central Highlands, who lost by five wickets to the Western Waves.

Cassidy batted at nine for the Central Highlands, but was bowled without making a run, facing four balls.

When handed the ball, Cassidy was one of the more consistent performers, not taking a wicket, but limiting the run rate, conceding six runs from three overs.

Next week will see Cassidy take in a busier schedule with four games in three days, including a double-header on Tuesday.

The Central Highlands will travel to Kiewa to take on the North East Knights on Monday, before taking on the Mallee Murray Suns on Tuesday morning at Alexandra Park in Murrayfield, before backing up with a game against Gippsland Pride later that afternoon.

Cassidy’s round-robin tournament will come to an end at Rowen Park on Wednesday against the Northern Rivers, with the top two teams to play in the final.

It’s part of what looks set to be a busy month for Cassidy, with his commitments also taking him to Melbourne to play in the WJ Dowling Shield for Carlton under the Victorian Premier Cricket banner.
