There was recent great news for Maryborough netball talents Millie Cassidy and Ella Patten, who have both been selected to the North Central Netball Region 17 and under team.
Cassidy and Patten, who, earlier in the season, represented the Bendigo Football Netball League (BFNL) in the Netball Victoria Association Championships in Melbourne, will be returning to the city on the weekend of October 7 and 8 for the Netball Victoria State Titles.
The 12-player squad is dominated with BFNL talent, with 11 of the 12 players plying their trade in the league.
The team will be coached by Sandhurst’s experienced A grade premiership coach Tamara Gilchrist.
The North Central team has been successful in the Netball Victoria State Titles in the past, collecting three 17 and under titles since 2000, and will be aiming for their first title since 2015 when they take to the court.
In the short term, however, Cassidy and Patten will have their first chance to impress Gilchrist ahead of the competition when the Magpies host the Dragons tomorrow afternoon.
