Carisbrook will look to continue their upturn in form when they face fourth-placed East Point on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Redbacks have been steadily improving, and have now kicked multiple goals in their past three games to show that they are starting to find their groove back in the Ballarat Football League Women’s competition.

Two weeks ago, the Lady Redbacks were unsuccessful against Bacchus Marsh, but it was their lowest losing margin in their first 10 games, losing by 19 points.

The third quarter was the key difference between the two teams, with the Cobras kicking three goals to no score from Carisbrook.

Nevertheless, two final-quarter goals gives the Lady Redbacks some confidence ahead of Sunday’s clash.

In the Lady Redbacks’ round eight meeting with East Point, the Redbacks were able to make a game of it in the first half, kicking two early goals in the second quarter. But seven unanswered goals saw East Point prove too strong, winning by 62 points.

Meantime, in the under 16s competition, Carisbrook face a tough task in trying to get back into finals contention, and will need to beat Storm this week to have any chance of making an impact in the final six games of the season.

Against Redan two weeks ago, the Lady Redbacks were very com-petitive, but were unable to hit the scoreboard in a 14-point loss.

A goal to Redan’s Laura George in the second quarter was the only goal of the day, with Carisbrook unable to respond.

But Memphis Hoober, Ella Gourley, Rhiannon Carter, Maddison Smith, Emme Johnson and Charlotte Metters gave their all throughout the morning to give the Lady Redbacks a fighting chance.
