It was tight, it was tense, but Carisbrook maintained their hold on a spot in the top two thanks to a 15-point victory over Natte Bealiba.

The Redbacks utilised a four-goal opening quarter to open up a 12-point lead at quarter time, but this would be their highest scoring quarter of the day as Natte Bealiba looked to turn up the pressure.

Two goals apiece in the second quarter saw the margin effectively stay the same by the long break, with Carisbrook holding the edge by 13 points.

Natte made their move in the third quarter, kicking three straight goals, while Carisbrook found the big sticks just once, which saw the Redbacks sitting just three points in front in the last quarter.

Any hopes of a grandstand finish was whittled away by the determination of the Redbacks to get the job done, kicking two goals while holding the Swans to just one behind to eventually take an important victory in the context of their season.

A best on ground effort by Harry Butler was crucial for the Redbacks, and he was ably supported by the ever-consistent Andrew Toan, Kyle Mackay, Dillan Treacy, Jackson Bowen and Michael Zelencich, with Zak Rinaldi, Thomas Gardam and Lewis Rinaldi kicking two goals apiece.

The Swans were well-served by the in-form Austin McKenzie, Bailey Cossar, Stephen Ross, Daniel Vadala, Trent Mortlock and Jordan Fraser, with Mortlock leading the line with three goals.
