Carisbrook prove too good in hard-fought win
Carisbrook sit comfortably on top of the ladder following Saturday’s 54-point win over Natte Bealiba at CHS Broadbent Oval.

It was a slow start in the opening term as both sides grappled for control, and with Natte booting 1.1 and Carisbrook 3.1 after a hard-fought quarter, the game remained open to anyone.
Clinical precision and some smart forward passages though saw Carisbrook capitalise where the home side couldn’t, with the second quarter seeing Carisbrook extend their score out to 39 points, with Natte in tow with 15.
Returning after the half time break, the Redback’s advance was slowed with the visitors adding 2.1 to the scoreline, while for home side Natte the advance ground to a halt, adding no score.
The game became more free flowing in the final quarter, with Natte desperate to claw back some of the deficit shown on the scoreline.
The Swans almost doubled their score in the last, kicking 2.1 to edge their score out to 28 points, however Carisbrook were miles ahead, booting 4.6 to end the game with 82 points.
It was a hard fought four quarters of footy for both sides, with intense pressure for both sides across the ground.
Natte named Jack Borchard, Jordan Fraser, Trent Mortlock, Jayden Brydon, Kyen Burrill-Grinton and Emmet Smith as its best players.
Tim Rinaldi, who kicked a bag of seven goals for the visiting Redbacks, was an obvious choice to be named among the best, alongside Cooper Driscoll, Patrick Taranto, Adam Hurse, Anden Lever and Cohen Leech.
Carisbrook now sit in first place on the ladder thanks to percentage, while Natte sit in the hotly contested position of eighth.
While a finals berth is on the cards for Natte Bealiba, their run into finals doesn’t get much easier, with an away game at Trentham come Saturday and Newstead the following weekend.
