MARYBOROUGH ROVERS (30) def by CARISBROOK (53)

Maryborough Rovers gave Carisbrook their biggest challenge of the season so far, but the Redbacks were able to show their class in the second half to take a 23-goal win.

Rovers were able to get the jump on Brook by scoring 12 goals to eight in the opening quarter.

But the Redbacks immediately hit back, scoring 18 goals to nine in the second quarter to take the lead going into the long break.

In the third quarter, the Redbacks started to kick clear, scoring 12 goals to five to open up a 12-goal lead as they turned for home.

It was a strong finish for Brook, scoring 15 goals while holding Rovers to just four for the quarter to run away with a 23-goal win.

The combination of Andrea Schafer and Paige McLean were again strong, with Schafer scoring 30 goals and McLean adding 23, while Bec Dewhirst was Rovers’ best inside the goal circle, scoring 23 goals.
