The Lady Redbacks arguably had their best performance of the season the last time they faced off against the Lakers.

They fought throughout their round six contest but couldn’t chip away at their 16-point quarter time deficit, leading to a 25-point defeat.

With that result in the back of their mind, the Lady Redbacks were keen to get off to a better start at Northern Oval.

While they didn’t crack the scoreboard in the opening quarter, Carisbrook held Lake Wendouree to 14 points in the first term to keep themselves within touching distance.

Despite the Lady Redbacks’ best efforts, the Lakers started to overrun the visitors in the midfield, scoring three unanswered goals in the second quarter to build a 34-point cushion at half time.

With the main break coming at the perfect time for Carisbrook to regroup, the Lady Redbacks seemed refreshed to start the second half, starting to get more clearances in the middle.

Unfortunately for Carisbrook, their forays forward didn’t result in points as the Lakers extended their margin to 40 points at three-quarter time.

Lake Wendouree would kick two goals in the final term to seal the victory, with the final scoreline reading Lake Wendouree 8.6.54 to Carisbrook’s 0.0.0.

After kicking a goal in round six, captain Olivia Butler again excelled against Lake Wendouree.

She was named in the best players alongside Emme Johnson and Maddison Smith, who have been spectacular this season, as well as Zeann Cassells, who had one of her best games on Sunday.

The Lady Redbacks return to Carisbrook Recreation Reserve this Sunday to face off against Bacchus Marsh.

Carisbrook will be keen to show out in front of their home supporters after the Cobras dominated the Lady Redbacks by 165 points in their last meeting.
